Patch panel system with tiltable tray and multiposition lock and release mechanism

A patch panel system is disclosed comprising a plurality of trays wherein each tray is stored within a patch panel housing but moveable towards the front of the housing into one of a patch position or an extended position. The tray is lockable in either the patch position or the extended position. In the extended position a front tray section holding one or more fiber optic connectors or modules is tiltable versus a rear tray section. In particular embodiment the tray can also be moved from the stored position into a retracted position behind the housing. A release mechanism comprising a lock is also provided which can be actuated to release the lock thereby allowing the tray to be slid out of the patch position and the extended position.

Flexible cable guide

A flexible cable guide and enclosure is disclosed for guiding one or more optic fiber cables between an outside of the enclosure and a moveable tray inside the enclosure on which devices terminating the one or more are mounted. A first end of the cable guide is secured to an outside of the enclosure and a second end is secured to the tray for movement therewith. The flexible cable guide ensures that the optic fiber cables transition smoothly from the outside of the enclosure to the devices.

Cross connect system and tray

A fiber optic cross connect system comprising a case defining a tray receiving space and at least one tray slideable in and out of the space between a first closed position, a second intermediate position and a third open or accessible position and a sliding engagment between a sidewall of the case and a side edge of the tray is disclosed. The sliding engagment comprises an elongate link member which is stationary as the tray is moved between the first closed position and the second intermediate position and moves with the tray as the tray is moved between the second intermediate and the third open position and such that the elongate link member does not interfere with fiber optic cables which are interconnecting external devices with devices on the tray. In a particular embodiment the link member is held stationary by a releasable locking mechanism.

Slide and tilt tray, slide and tray using same

A fiberoptic cabinet is disclosed comprising a tray for receiving a plurality of cassettes and comprising pins positioned opposite one another on the side edges towards a rear edge which together defining a hinge axis, and sliders positioned opposite one another on the side walls. The sliders comprise a channel defining an opening and an extension member held slideably within the channel and comprising a slot aligned with the opening. The extension member is slideable within the channel between where the extension member is positioned towards a rear of the channel and where the extension member is positioned adjacent a front end of the channel. The pins are held within slots, and the tray is dimensioned such that when the extension member is slid to the rear, the side edges are received within the openings and when the extension member is slid to the front, the side edges are freed from the openings and the tray is pivotable about the axis.

Labelling system for rackmount case for the accommodation of optical equipment

A rackmount case for the accommodation of optical equipment and labelling tag is disclosed. The case comprises a box like housing comprising an end defining a rectangular opening, labelling tags each comprising a rectangular tag plate and a plurality of hinge elements arranged along an edge of the rectangular tag plate. At least one labelling tag receiving slot is within the housing for receiving one of the labelling tags. The slot comprises an opening adjacent the housing opening and a plurality of hinge elements adjacent the slot opening. The labelling tags are moveable between a first position, wherein the tags are held within the slot, and a second position wherein the tags are outside of the slot and each of the hinge elements is engaged by a respective of the second hinge elements such that the tags are rotatable about an axis in parallel to the slot opening.

Deformable latch mechanism for tray

A latch mechanism for retaining a tray in a selected one of a first, second position and third position. The latch mechanism comprises notches arranged on an inner surface of the housing along an axis parallel to a direction of travel of the tray, an elongate actuator on the tray and opposite the inner surface, the actuator comprising a first elongate member and a second elongate member, an inner end of the first elongate member connected to an inner end of the second elongate member at a connection point, a stop positioned at the connection point wherein the stop is biased laterally towards the inner surface. By increasing a distance between an outer end of the first elongate member and an outer end of the second elongate member the stop is moveable from an unactuated state wherein the stop is engageable by a selected one of the notches and such that the tray is retainable in a selected one of the first, second and third position, to an actuated state wherein the stop moves laterally against the biasing force away from the inner surface and such that the stop is no longer engageable by one of the notches.

Keystone jack adaptor

An adaptor for receiving a keystone type connector and insertion into a patch panel is provided, having a bottom wall with a ridge engaging lower slot and a lower edge engaging channel and a top wall having a flexible tab and a cantilevered latch engaging upper slot and an upper edge engaging channel in the flexible tab. The walls define a keystone modular jack receiving region and opening. The adaptor is dimensioned such that when the lower edge is received in the lower edge engaging channel, the upper edge is releasably engageable by the upper edge engaging channel, thereby releasably securing the adaptor within an aperture in a patch panel.

Patch panel labelling system

The present invention provides a patch panel labelling system for mounting to a telecommunications rack. The system comprises a connector module mounted to the rack and having a front face with a plurality of connectors. A labelling plate is mounted to the module for movement about a first pivot axis between a first position where the plate is substantially parallel to the front face of the module and a second position where the plate is pivoted away from the front face for providing access to the connectors. The plate can be further pivoted about a second pivot axis to selectively hide or reveal the labels provided thereon for identifying the connectors. The plate can be also be slid underneath the module for storage.
